If you have read “Old Breed General” or studied WWII in the Pacific, you understand the vastness of the topic and the wealth of data waiting to be uncovered. It’s overwhelming and intoxicating.
It draws you in; you crave more.
Regrettably, due to the publisher’s tight word count for “Old Breed General,” we couldn’t include all the fascinating details I was eager to share about the build-up to WWII with Japan and the Marines’ activities in the Pacific.
Additionally, like our grandfather, there are countless military and civilian leaders from that era of whom we know little today who I would like to highlight.
Often, what is left out of books and movies about the Pacific, is the key to truly understanding the past, with lessons for the present.
In the upcoming months, I will share insights gathered from this research into the past, presenting them as chapters to accompany the book. This compilation comprises data from my grandfather’s files, oral histories, event records, and crucial documents sourced from the USMC History Division and the US National Archives.
Feel free to message me if you have any specific questions.
Otherwise, stay tuned for updates.
